Flaxseed Benefits Emphysema

A recently released study concludes that the fats found in flaxseeds can help people who suffer from ephysema, chronic bronchitis and other chronic lung diseases.

Researchers found that supplements of omega-3 fatty acids improved patients' breathing difficulties - possibly by lessening airway inflammation.

Sixty-four people were asked to drink a liquid supplement rich in omega-3 fats each day, the other sixty-four people drank a supplement containing omega-6 fats.

After two years, the people in the omega-3 group improved significantly in their breathing during exercise. As well, the levels of certain inflammatory proteins in their blood and mucus declined. See more on the COPD study here.

Other rich sources of Omega 3 include flaxseed oil, flaxseed enriched eggs, walnuts, cold-water fish and fish oils.

Flaxseed Oil Makes a Perfect Christmas Gift

If you are wondering what to get your friends or family for Christmas, consider a tasteful gift bag containing two or three or five different nutritional oils.

For example, a gift of flaxseed, walnut, sesame seed, almond and olive oils would probably be greatly appreciated. Many of these oils can be purchased in very tasteful bottles.

This gift is one that won't go to waste. It's a nutritious and healthy gift and a bit upscale if you ask me. It won't be collecting dust in someone's closet. It's a great gift for people who are making New Year's Resolutions for healthier lifestyles in 2006.

You can probably choose three oils for a total price of less than thirty dollars depending on the size of the bottles.
