Flaxseeds Help Cure Bi Polar Disorder

James Boschman started to sleep better and was 'not crazy anymore' within three weeks of starting to eat flax seeds regularly. Boschman went on to found a flaxseed company and spoke about his experiences at a conference recently. There is an interesting article about this written by Dani Veracity at News Target.

Flax seed is the most concentrated vegetarian source of omega 3 fatty acids.

Boschman spoke about how the lack of omega-3 in our diets is a major contributor to the increasing incidence of mental illness in our society. Food manufacturers do not use ingredients high in omega-3 fatty acids because they turn rancid quickly. Instead they use hydrogenated oils which are not good for us but have the advantage of a long shelf life.

Flaxseeds help Depression

Flaxseed BreadOmega 3 has been shown to be effective in helping to relieve depression and bipolar disorder.

Flaxseeds contain more omega 3's than any other vegetarian source of food. Most people in North America do not get anywhere near the optimal amount of omega 3 fatty acids in their daily diet.

Two tablespoons of ground flaxseed will provide you with 140 percent of the daily recommended value of omega 3 fatty acids.

To see more about the correlation between lack of omega 3's in the diet and depression, see an article on the benefits of flaxseeds in helping to alleviate depression here.
