Flax Rolls as a Nutritious Snack

We recently sampled a great flax treat called "Flax Rolls". They are pictured above and are extraordinarily healthy as far as snacks go and quite delicious.

It's not so convenient or tasty sometimes to be regularly getting flaxseed out of your fridge and mixing it with yogurt or whatever to get your nutritious daily fix.

These flax rolls can be eaten anytime of the day as a snack and they travel well in a lunch bag. They are an excellent source of omega 3 and fiber.

Here's the description of the product from the Anderssen's Life website;

Flax Rolls™ are ground flax and rye wraps, each made with 2 - 3 tablespoons (about 30 gm) of ground flax and baked with a variety of delicious fillings which include many other “super foods” such as:
• Wild Salmon - another great source of Omega-3, essential fatty acids and protein in the ‘Omega Booster Power Roll’
• Chickpeas, Lentils, Legumes (other beans) - excellent sources of protein, fiber, lignans, vitamins & minerals
• Blueberries - rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals
• Vegetables – tomatoes, green beans, green onions, white onions, cabbage, turnips, carrots, yams, peppers, corn, peas, ginger, garlic and more
• Fruits - apples, oranges, pineapple, cranberries, pumpkin, cherries, and more
• Brown rice and oats
• Herbs and spices such as cilantro, lemon grass, turmeric, curry, cumin, cinnamon and more.

Flax Rolls™ are made with organic ground flaxseed. They are free of refined sugars, artificial additives and preservatives.

To get a sense of how nutritious they are, for example, the salmon flax roll has only 260 calories but supplies 5 grams of omega 3, 36% of recommended daily fiber, and 40% of daily recommended iron.

The one drawback about this product is that it is only available in three cities so far; Vancouver, Victoria and Whistler, all cities in British Columbia Canada. Hopefully they will find distribution with Whole Foods or someone such soon.

This looks delicious. I've found some other flaxseed recipes here too which look easy enough to create.
